LANGUAGE AND CULTURE CENTER
Since 1975, the Language and Culture Center has provided intensive English instruction for international students who want to study at universities in the United States or improve their English language skills to meet personal and professional goals. Over 20,000 students have increased their ability to use English correctly and effectively at the LCC.
Our 13- or 14-week academic program provides 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for students who need to significantly improve their English to study in an American college or university, whose professions require mastery of the English language, or who simply desire to improve their English language skills. The program includes instruction in reading, writing, listening, speaking, as well as grammar. Students are placed into levels based on their placement test scores.
Students who have successfully completed Level 6 in the LCC are not required to present a TOEFL or an IELTS score when seeking admission to the University of Houston. This is true of all undergraduate programs and a growing number of graduate programs.
All LCC teachers hold master’s degrees and have extensive teaching experience in English as a Second Language. LCC marketing surveys continually show that students return to our program because of the excellence of our teachers.
